Mantralayam Temple Prasadam Distribution Timings and Types of Offerings

Mantralayam, located on the banks of the Tungabhadra river in Andhra Pradesh, is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in South India, dedicated to Sri Raghavendra Swami. The temple follows a strict daily schedule for prasadam distribution, ensuring that every devotee receives the divine blessings of the saint. The temple opens early in the morning and prasadam distribution begins with the Thiruvanandal seva around 5:00 AM, where devotees receive sacred vibhuti and tirtha as the first offerings of the day. During the morning Mangalarathi around 6:00 AM, devotees are offered panchamrutham, a sacred mixture of milk, honey, curd, ghee, and sugar that is considered highly auspicious. The mid-morning puja around 8:00 AM sees the distribution of theertha prasadam along with coconut pieces blessed during the ritual. The Rajabhoga Seva conducted around 12:00 PM noon is one of the most important sevas of the day, during which annadanam or free meal prasadam is distributed to thousands of devotees who visit the temple daily. This free meal typically includes rice, sambar, rasam, vegetables, and payasam, all prepared with great devotion in the temple kitchen. The afternoon sevas around 3:00 PM offer devotees laddu prasadam, which is specially prepared in the temple and is a much-sought-after offering by pilgrims. Evening Dhoop seva around 6:00 PM is followed by distribution of vibhuti along with small amounts of sacred ash believed to carry the blessings of Sri Raghavendra Swami. The Ekantha seva performed around 8:00 PM marks the closing rituals of the day, after which final prasadam in the form of blessed sweets and dry fruits is distributed to devotees still present at the temple. Special prasadams are offered on important days such as Raghavendra Swami Aradhana, Vaikunta Ekadashi, and other Hindu festivals, when the variety and quantity of prasadam is significantly increased. The Aradhana festival, which falls in the month of Shravana, witnesses lakhs of devotees flocking to Mantralayam to receive the special prasadam prepared on that occasion. The temple trust also runs an extensive annadanam program throughout the year, serving free meals to pilgrims irrespective of their caste, creed, or social status, embodying the spirit of equality that Sri Raghavendra Swami preached. The prasadam distributed at Mantralayam is considered extremely sacred and is believed to have healing and spiritual properties, attracting devotees not only from India but from across the world.
